Hi, During the 1850 census for Houghton County I have found my Great Great Grandfather John (Fluhrer) Flora who is from Germany living with a Henry Fisher and his family along with more lodgers. The people in 1850 were among the early pioneers in Houghton. Can anyone tell me if there is a book, or other types of papers that might help me locate more info on my Great Great Grandfather. What types of records if any were kept in Houghton County at that time? Fluhrer is his original name. John married Catherine Schubert and 2 of his 4 children where born in Eagle Harbor which is part of Houghton County at that time. His first daughter is Barbara born 1851, then came Caroline who was born for some reason in Cleveland Ohio in 1854, then back to Michigan for his son my Great Grandfather John who was born in Eagle Harbor in 1859, then onto Negaunee for the 4th child George in 1862.
