After you select print from the file menu, a printer menu will drop down. At the bottom right hand side it will say "print in color", click on the check mark to remove it and your document will print in black and white. It is , indeed, faster. Barb, Lakeland, Fl. Hi Marilyn, Well, after thinking about your email, i think that the Michigan Tech archives may be your best place to visit.I had my cousin there yesterday looking for old obits and he was successful in finding them. The people that work in it are very helpful. http://www.lib.mtu.edu/jrvp/mtuarchives/mtuarchives.htm Here is MTU's site for the Van Pelt Library, click though their collection. Alicia Hi, During the 1850 census for Houghton County I have found my Great Great Grandfather John (Fluhrer) Flora who is from Germany living with a Henry Fisher and his family along with more lodgers. The people in 1850 were among the early pioneers in Houghton. Can anyone tell me if there is a book, or other types of papers that might help me locate more info on my Great Great Grandfather. What types of records if any were kept in Houghton County at that time? Fluhrer is his original name. John married Catherine Schubert and 2 of his 4 children where born in Eagle Harbor which is part of Houghton County at that time. His first daughter is Barbara born 1851, then came Caroline who was born for some reason in Cleveland Ohio in 1854, then back to Michigan for his son my Great Grandfather John who was born in Eagle Harbor in 1859, then onto Negaunee for the 4th child George in 1862. During the 1860 census he is then living with his family in Negaunee Michigan. Thank you in advance, Marilyn ==== MIHOUGHT Mailing List ==== MIGenWeb Houghton Co. Hi, This is the person, Ingulf Niskavara ingulf.niskavara@c2i.net I dont know if this is her current email. alicia I think that there is a researcher with the name of Niskavaara in Norway who was or is looking for that name. Now if i can just remember her name... I have never been able to find what children of my g.grandfathers were born in Norway. - Hello I can find on the 1875 census for Vadsø, Finnmark county (on the "digital archive" on the internet) one Christian Mattisen Niskavara born 1869 in Vadsø. Johansen, Oslo, Norway Regarding Christian Mattisen Niskavara, last year I thought this was a possibility for my grandfather, Christian Wilhelm Mattson, b. in Norway 1869. However, after further investigation by several people, I was told that according to the 1900 census of North Varanger, today a part of Vadso Parish; Kristian Niskavara married to Emma Emeline Korbi, born in 1873. Kristian works as a fisherman. Their children are Joan b. 1891, Julian born in 1896, Helga b. 1898 and Marie b. Oct. 1900. Ida E. Niskavara b. in 1886 daughter of Eva K. Eriksen, born in 1844, Finland Ida is single. Eva K. is a widow. So, it looks like this Christian did not leave Norway. Would be very interested if you find this information is not correct or is you find other possibilities. Still hoping for find Christian Wilhelm Mattson, Pat
