Can someone verify the presence of the SCHULTZ family in Calumet in 1900? Frank SCHULTZ (born Germany) and his wife Anna MURPHY (born Ireland) lived there in 1890. Son John SCHULTZ was born in Calumet on 24 June 1890. I do not know about any other children. Do they appear in the 1900 Census? Thank you. Joseph Martin Romeoville, IL

Hi Peter, I talked to a relative in the Stenson family and they are interested in contacting you. The daughter is on vacation in Hawaii (take me there too please!) and her Mom is going to call her when they get back. The Mother Harriet, is the daughter in law of the late Ernest Harold Stenson, husband of Ruth Tornquist. Let me know if you are interested in corresponding with American relatives. Alicia
Alicia, Thank you very very much for your research! I really appreciate your help. It was exactely the type of information that I needed to take another step forward and this time you took me 27 years in one step. /Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alicia Koski-Marshall" <alicia@chartermi.net> To: <MIHOUGHT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2003 8:16 PM Subject: Re: [MIHOUGHT] Obituaries for Ernest and Alma TORNQUIST? > Hi Peter, > I was at the Finlandia archives this morning and did find obits for them > both. I believe her maiden aname was Mary Elizabeth Gray, since Benjamin Gray's obituary from 1916 lists as a survivor, "Mrs. Mary Phillips of Colorado". She is deceased by 1928, according to her sister's obituary. The 1880 census shows James as being born in 1850 in England, and Mary born 1860 in England.

I am in need of someone to head up the Houghton site. You do not need to live in the county, but it helps in acquiring documents from the library and elsewhere. If you love doing genealogy, gathering information and making it available to others in an effort to keep genealogy FREE on the internet, then you are the right person for this position. Visit the site above, and go to Michigan then counties, select Houghton and click on "adopt me." There are other counties available as well. Yes you can go to the LDS web site and they have the 1880 US and the 1881 Canada census on line for you to go through. Most of the 1890 census was destroyed in a fire in the Commerce Department Building in Washington, D.C. on January 21, 1921. Not all of the schedules were consumed, but most were so badly damaged that Congress authorized their disposal. Fragmentary schedules for some of the states do exist. None of these are for Michigan. Tom Sparrow Allen Park, MI
Most of the 1890 census is gone (discarded ?) although some reconstructed lists have been developed.
Ok I was able to access that, does anyone have access to the 1890 census. Jean
Does anyone have any information on the 1880 census.
Hi Jean, You can search the entire 1880 Census free online at the Mormon web site - www.familysearch.org Joseph Martin Romeoville, IL ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean Junkin" <jjunkin@up.net> To: <MIHOUGHT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2003 11:33 AM Subject: [MIHOUGHT] 1880 Census > Does anyone have any information on the 1880 census. > > > > ==== MIHOUGHT Mailing List ==== > MIGenWeb Houghton Co.
