    3. Can anyone look for Ernst Fredrith William (Bill?) Daume (born in Germany in 1838, died March 3, 1889, buried in Pinegrove Cemetery, Eagle Harbor, maybe his death certificate would have the information.) and Mathilda Reinboth (buried in Lakeview cemetery, Calumet.) from Berlin, Brandenburg, Prussia. They came to the USA in 1873 and landed in Central Mine, then to Laurium. I am looking for information as to who his parents were who stayed in Berlin, Prussia. Can this information be found anywhere? I have hit a brick wall. I would really appreciate it if anyone could find some information about them. Thank you very much. Joan

    3. I looked at the volume of Germans to America and on the ship Devonshire there were Miller, Julie age 22 and Kath Mueller age 18. No others. Took a look at the index and there are an awful lot of Miller, Muller and Mueller. Probably 1/3 to 1/2 named Johannes or some variation of it. I assumed that Joannes Jacobus was called Jacob after a fairly common German custom and looked for Jacob and Mathias traveling together. Ship Jenny Lind arrived NY 20 Apr 1854 had Muller, Math, age 27, M, cptr and Muller, John, age 22, M tlr. Not listed together but on the same manifest. Ship Sam M Fox, arrived NY 15 Dec 1853 had Muller, Mathias, age 45, M, Farmer , WM, and Johann, age 9, M, child wm. Wm is Wurtemburg. Also other family members. Ship Wm Nelson, arrived NY 3 Apr 1854 had Mueller, Johann, age 25, M, farmer and Mathias, age ;5, m, child, both from Baden. Other family members listed. Mathias appears to be the son of Johann. Ship Norma, arrives Ny 4 June 1853 had Mueller, Mathias, age 20, m wvr. appears to have been alone. Good luck in your search. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: LANG LAWLER LAWLOR ERMATINGER MCCORMACK Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2FB.2ACI/1893.1.1 Message Board Post: James is with his family in Calumet, ED 9, page 50 in 1880. His father was also James and his grandfather was Patrick. I can trace Patrick and the rest of the family back to 1850 in New York, after they immigrated from County Kerry, Ireland. I didn't look at the LDS census records for 1880, since I already had the information, but many times the name is incorrectly indexed as "Long." The whole family and the censuses are on my website: http://myheritagesite.com under the LANG section. James was my mother's uncle, and she always knew him as a bachelor. There was a rumor that he had married once. The only census where I can't find him is the 1910 census, just at the time when he would have been married to Laura ERMATINGER. In 1900, he is with his parents, and in 1920, he is back with them and listed as single. His Calumet/Hecla employment record from 1916 says "wife's name, if living" and Laura is listed; however, there is also a check above "widowed," so I'm guessing she died before he was back with his parents in 1920? I sure would love to find James and Laura in 1910, and, hopefully, find out more about her.

He was born in Oetzegen, Nassau, Germany and showed up on records here in Michigan in 1854 as a Godfather at a baptism. Living next to him on the census was a Mathias Miller born @ 1832 Nassau. I'm assuming they came tog. So they came in 1853 or so. Some of the other neighbors arrived in NY on Nov 9, 1853 on the ship Devonshire.
