    1. [MIHOUGHT] New Cemetery Records & Census Indexes
    2. Patricia Hamp
    3. There has been a large update to the Forest Hill Cemetery online records thanks to Tami's poor worn stubs she calls fingers. Tami has managed to get 7,405 graves entered so far and they were uploaded last night. The page has been reworked to make it easier to find your family. Forest Hill Cemetery Records http://www.mfhn.com/houghton/foresthill/default.asp Tami also has a new set of records just about ready for going through. Will send the link soon. Also, have some other records from Sara that I am formatting (slowly) that you might want to check out in the Italians of the UP at: http://www.mfhn.com/houghton/ItaliansRice/default.asp More are coming that she has done but they aren't web ready yet. 1. Re: [MIHOUGHT] Border crossing
    2. Patricia Hamp
    3. A ferry would have been the easiest I would think. Many ferry services at that time, with out records to gather names from, but for newspaper articles of local comings and goings. Border crossings didn't get recorded by the government until the mid 1890's. After that they are on film and listed under St. Albans Border Crossings. There is a soundex to the files so you can order the right film in. The films themselves that I have around are very hard to read on some of the manifests, but they are the first two films. The earliest two films only contain people coming into the ports at the mouth of the St. Lawrence. Here is a list of what is available on film with the order numbers for the NARA or the LDS FHL. http://www.mifamilyhistory.org/glpassengers/sources.asp There was by train too, but that would have been hard to do and out of the way and a much longer trip then considering Houghton Co.'s location. 1. [MIHOUGHT] McDonald, McRae, McIntyre
    2. Marion Markham
    3. Thanks to the ever helpful Colleen, I think I have found a connection to the McIntyre clan in my line. It would be helpful if I could order death certificates for some of these people but I don't know when they died. Between the 1880 census and the one for 1900 is a big gap. I have asked before about a cemetery near Quincy where the McDonalds might be buried. I am also hoping to find McRaes and McIntyres. I do have some McRae burials but if anyone has information on any of these families, I would like to get it. Marion Markham

    3. I think I have asked this before but have not received an answer. I am looking for information on McDonalds who lived in Quincy in the 1880 census. If I could find the cememtery where John McDonald and his wife, Maggie (Margaret?) are buried, I might be able to get DCs that would lead me back to Scotland. TIA Marion Markham
