He and Margaret Handley Driscoll lived in Houghton Co. in 1878 when their dau. Susan was born, but were in MA when their next child born. They don't show up in 1880 Census enumeration in MA. I think it is intriguing the different ways Pat and I transcribed this record (see below). One would almost think it was two different records, when this was not the case at all. I'm not sure what this means, other than the fact that things printed out in black and white are not always as reliable as we tend to think they are. I will tell you from experience that the vital records are through 1910-1913 depending on which vitals you are looking at. Good Hunting.

My sisters and I were there last summer and went through there in July but didn't find anyone except a Condon which is also a relative. Do you know the location of the Kempf stones as we have searched the Houghton death records twice looking for them. We hope to go again next summer and have our cousin, Ken Brocco, a life long resident of Calumet show us around. Our father was born in Houghton. Any information you can forward that would be of help would be appreciated. Also there was a Mr. Foster who lived in Calumet who died. His basement was full of records, some of them from the cemetary and C&H records. They are now in the possession of the National Park Service Red! Jacket Road in Calumet with the Historical Archives according to my almost 90 year old cousin who is a Kempf & Condon decendant, and very alert. Any help or information, expecially the date of death or birth would be appreciated, as would any other information that might be helpful. Thank you for making my day! Alice
