Some of the info you gave is incorrect. Arthur Nester JOHNSON was my brother (28 Dec 1925 - 23 Mar 2003) - his/my parents were: Arthur Cornelius JOHNSON (28 Oct 1899 - 26 Jul 1982) and my mother: Aili Emilia Helena ERKKILA (19 Mar 1905 - 23 Jun 1994). (And his middle name was spelled Nester on his birth certificate - probably was a typo, but that was the way he continued to spell it.) He was named after his maternal grandfather - Charles Nestor ERKKILA. I do have pictures of all the gravestones. Yes - the family farm is right across the street from Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. The farm is now occupied by a cousin. My brother's widow now lives in Lake Linden. They are all greatly missed. I am curious on which ports of departure and which ports of arrival Houghton ancestors used. I am trying to find my great grandmother and her first born's passage c. 1888-89. Passengers Marianna Wojtkowiak age ~23 and Jakub (Jacob) ~ 1 1/2 yrs old. Family story says she left from Stettin. Her husband who preceded her traveled Bremen to Baltimore to Calumet. She did not. I have searched via stevemorse.org, castlegarden, ancestry, theshipslist and microfilms. I have started to view the new Canadian manifests online. (Information on the National Library of Canada including services and collections.) http://www.collectionscanada.ca So, I'm curious about other German -Poles path to Calumet. If you come across my missing great grandmother, Marcyanna (nee SKIBINSKA) KAPTUR and her four month old daughter, Constantia, please give a holler. For six years I have searched the same resources for 1887-1888 to no avail. Perhaps they were all on the same ship - now with a missing manifest!!!! Her husband traveled from Bremen to NYC.
