Did you get the actual death certificate? There are places to fill in parents' names, though it was a little inconsistent at that early date, and also dependent on whether the informant knew the names. It should have a birthdate, too, but place may or may not be really specific.You might also try to get an obituary from a nearby small town. However, a name like that is very common here in Minnesota, and you'd think perhaps she would really be called Pedersen if she is the same one who married. On the marriage, I would note the minister's name, and see if you can figure out which church this was. You could maybe find something either in history of the area, which frequently will lists minister's names, or a directory for the town around that date. Then you could try writing to the church to see if they have a longer record with parents' names. That one actually sounds more likely to me, with age and birthplace matching. Joseph, age 25 and Julia Green, age 23 are on the 1870 census with children, Mary, James and Philip with his mother Mary age 66. Children ages 4,3 and 1. 1880 census adds Daniel, Catherine, John and Julia. !900 census shows a dau Jesse age 11 and an adopted Joseph age 5. I believe Joseph's mother Mary was Mary Kelly and is possibly my gg grandmother. Believe mother Julia and son Philip are buried in Forest Hills in section 6. Mary Kelly Greene died on Dec 10, 1880 and is listed on 1880 census. Some of this family could have gone by the name Sullivan. The father Joseph had siblings Mary, Philip and Daniel.

And sometimes places in Michigan are confused with Minnesota. There is a Hancock near Chippewa County, Minnesota. That Hancock is about 40 miles to the north in Stevens County. Some people from my Chippewa County moved to that Hancock. I am stopping by the library today to see if I can find her obit. I might wait until tomorrow. I want to see her death record at the courthouse. I believe it is closed because of President Ford laying in state. I will post again on the Chippewa County, Minnesota board.
