I am sure this Henrietta is my gg-grandfather's older sister. The 1870 census shows a Nicholas "Wilsky" and family living 7 housholds away from Henrietta Lorenz. This is probably her parents, Nicholas and Christine Sibilsky and brothers Theodore and Albert. I have gotten a lot of my Sibilsky info.from the "Haun Family Pages". This source has Henrietta married to Frank Lorenz (children:Frank, Etta, Lillie)????

By 1900 she was a widow living in Osceloa Twp. with her son, and his family. I suspect Selma/Sarah moved to Keweenaw with her parents. I suspected that Houghton Co. took in Keweenaw Co. in 1856. Only the marriage record will clear up the confusion of whether the husband was Joseph or Frank Lorenz. Henrietta (Sibilsky) Lorenz lived into her 90's. She continued to live in Portage township in close proximity to Sibilsky and Schultz relatives. The Portage Lake Mining Gazette reports a Joseph Lorenz (carpenter) being shot and killed by Warner, Nov. 24,1869. p.s. Thanks for scanning "Our Boys in the Spanish - American War"

Hi! Barbara, Thanks for pointing out my error. I was looking for James & Jessie READ & family in 1920 Keweenaw & 1930 Genesse Co. census. Thank you for the 1930 census information. There was a divorce. How interesting! I had assumed she had died when she wasn't in the household in 1930. James & Jessie(HAWKINS) READ came from Hampshire, England. I have yet to locate her uncle, Samuel HAWKINS, who was born in Hampshire in 1848 & went to the U.S. He was an ag. lab. & the family story is he went to Lake Michigan. Many of his siblings settled in Queensalnd, Australia, so he was the odd one out. Thank you for the valuable information you have given me. The marriage may have occurred in Eagle River. I belive she married Joseph Lorenz but other sources state it was Frank Lorenz. Henrietta was my gg-grandfather's (William Sibilsky) older sister. She was the daughter of Nicolas Sibilsky and the family was from Saxony. Henrietta came to Houghton County in 1854. Her parents and younger sibs arrived in 1865-67 (Portage township). A look-up of the marriage record and facts would be greatly appreciated and would help my research.

1930 - Genesee County, Flint, Michigan James A. age 50, divorced, born in England. Owns own home valued at $5,000 (in keeping with the area). Immigrated in 1899.
