PA . They moved their entire family to Hillsdale County from New York around 1850. Most of their children that married did so in Hillsdale County as early as 1852 and later moved to various other counties in Michigan. But George and Elsia are never found anywhere else. There is a land patent deeding land to "The Heirs of George Hardy of Hillsdale County" in 1858. The record of this on Ancestry only shows it as George Hardy, but the actual document d/l'd from the Bureau of Land Management states "The Heirs Of George Hardy"....same date and same land description. So he must have died prior to 1858. Three of their unmarried children are shown on the 1850 census living together in the village of Hillsdale, Hillsdale County. In 1840 the entire family was still living together, except for one married daughter, in Phelps Co., NY. There are othe! r land records for a George Hardy in Grand Traverse Co. in succeeding years, but those are for the son of the George Hardy I'm searching for. Would also be interested in any probate records, if there are any for him.
