Sawyer was born May 27, 1802 in Vermont and died Jan 9, 1871 in Claredon, MI. HE was the son of Samuel Sawyer and married to Mary Gifford. There is a site that says he was born in Bridport, Addison County but I've not been able to prove that. His wife was born in Herkimer County, NY. I'd love to have contact with anyone related to this family.

After the breakthrough on John H. Spencer I found the folks at vital records of Hillsdale very helpful. The same can be said for the cemetary evaluation people there. It turns out that my next focus person, a William Spencer b. about 1830 in either Stephentown, NY. or Herkimer Co, Ny. has been the point of my search for a decade, and the Genweb Michigan Census that you mentioned is helpful in the elimination of some of the prospects, which is valuable to me. The posting you responded to was placed to focus attention on all the surnames of John H.Spencer`s female lines, hoping someone would recognize some of the community names.
