    1. [MIHILLSD] Salmon, McRill, and maybe other surnames related to these families
    2. Douglas Sarkozy
    3. SOS if these surnames are among your ancestors!!!! I was at an auction today and there were several BEAUTIFUL very old photo albums loaded with family pictures. While reviewing them, I noted one especially (perhaps more, but I'm not sure) that seemed to be almost completely related to the Salmon family from the Hillsdale County area. I also recall the McRill name being among them. I bid on them, but when the price reached $60 dollars per album they became too expensive to purchase just in case one of you needed them. I did get the name and phone number of the woman who purchased all but one of the albums. She said she planned to resell them, so you could contact her. If you are interested you can call Toni Plain at (989) 872-5272. She said albums like these go quickly, so you may want to contact her soon. I really hope that one of you Hillsdale researchers can use them. They are as complete as I've ever seen, and I would have bit MUCH higher had even one of my ancestors been in them. Good Luck ! Penny

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFB.2ACE/1090.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello Richard: In the 1850 Census for Grafton, Lorain Co., OH, I found Stephen with Elizabeth, 20, and James H., 2. "Stephen" seems to be common Olds family name as I have seen it often in un-connected lines. I am not certain that the Amboy Stephen belongs to my line. My source Stephen was born in 1784, in Suffield Twn, Hartford, CT. He married Mary Jane (Polly) Easlick, b. 1798, NJ or NY, in Yates Co., NY, abt 1819. This Stephen, and apparently his father, Stephen, Sr, were in Benton, Ontario, NY, for the 1813-1816 Benton Tax Rolls. The "junior" was specified in the 1816 Tax Roll. Stephen, Sr, was in Williamson Twp, Ontario Co., NY, for the 1820 Census; and Stephen, Jr., was found in Reading Twp, Steuben Co., NY, also in the 1820 Census. This Olds family moved from Reading Twp, Steuben Co., NY, along with--but perhaps in advance of--Polly's family (parents William and Phebe Eastlick, and other siblings and in-laws) in 1837, settling in South Shenango Twp, Crawford Co., PA. Stephen and Polly last appeared there for the 1840 Census and apparently moved to Ohio after William Eastlick's estate was settled about 1847.(I couldn't find them in any 1850 Census). William Eastlick, Jr,. Polly's youngest brother, b.1810, NY, married Sally E Olds, b. 23 Oct 1809, NY, on 8 Jan 1832 in Steuben Co., NY. Sally's parents were Luke Olds and Eleanor Crispell. Luke, Sr, had son Luke Oliver Olds and whose son, Elias R. Olds, married yet another Eastlick (Louisa), daughter of William and Sarah (Sally) Eastlick. Mary Jane's brother, John Easlick, b. 1793, NJ, moved from Trumbull Co., OH, to Lenawee Co., MI about 1858; his brother, William, Jr, moved to Washtenaw Co., MI, before the 1850 Census. These two Eastlicks/Easlicks are the source of most MI Eastlicks. There were a few Cornish collier Eastlicks settling Iron County and Houghton Counties and who worked the mines there late in the 20th Century. These late comers apparently produced few descendants. Come to think of it, my Eastlick line was likely out of Cornwall, England, and settled in NJ in the early 18th Century. One Eastlick, Samuel, made it to Port Annapolis, MD--disembarking from the "Alexander" there in September 1723. This might explain why the given name Alexander often appears in the several lines of Eastlick families. Mary Jane (Olds) had sister Elizabeth, b. 1795, NJ, and who married John Osborn in Reading Twp, Yates Co., NY, on 18 Apr 1814. They lived in Seneca Co., NY, and migrated to Macon Twp, Lenawee Co., MI, prior to the 1850 Census. John Easlick married Margaret Hawkins, b. 12 Jul 1796, Dutchess Co., NY, in Reading Twp on Dec 1817. Several of Margaret's uncles settled MI and who are responsible for large numbers of MI's Hawkins families.. Vodicy Olds, b. 1828, NY, married Jacob Gephart, b. 1814, Wurttenburg, Germany. We believe Vodicy to have been a daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth. The first two (possibly more) of her 15 children were born in Ohio, and the balance in Hillsdale County. Jacob Gephart, 10 (b. 1870, MI), nephew, was living with Stephen and Betsy Olds in Amboy, Hillsdale Co., MI, for the 1880 Census. Ergo, was Jacob's mother Vodicy, a sister of Stephen's? No doubt, there are a lot of Olds cousins out there and who appeared to all land mostly in the same counties of Lenawee and Ingham and Hillsdale. The sorting out continues. I hope this hasn't muddied the waters. Ed Easlick
