    1. Tombstone Restorations
    2. Floyd Bailey
    3. Can anyone tell me if there is a volunteer group, or professional, in the Hillsdale/Pioneer area who does tombstone restorations? It had been ten years since I last visited some family graves and I was dismayed to find many in a state of disrepair, two in fact were knocked down and fast decaying. I would appreciate any leads you might give me. Thanks Floyd Bailey

    1. Elmer James (b 1860) and Etta DURY
    2. The minutes of the 1923 Van Scoy-Knapp reunion say "A letter had been received from Mrs. E. Dury of Camden, Michigan . . . " I'm trying to identify her. Abraham and Mary (KNAPP) VAN SCOY's oldest child Sally/Sarah Van Scoy was born in 1812 and married in 1832 in Huron County, Ohio, James DURY. They had two daughters, Mary E. and Lidda Jane, and three sons, John David, James Leonder, and Ceylon Sherman. John David Dury was born 1834 in Huron County, Ohio, and died 1902 in East Gilead, Michigan. In the 1880 census of North West Township, Williams County, Ohio, he is with his wife and children including son "Elon" age 19. According to family reunion records his son Elmer James Dury was born in 1860 and married "Etta Wallas." I have not found an Elon/Eldon/Elmer Dury in the census (anywhere in US) after 1880. The only Etta/Ettie Dury I've found in the census is age 19 in Delaware in 1880. There is an Ettie Dury Elver listed at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mihillsd/data/vitals/amboyburialindex.html but I have not found an Elver in Michigan in the census for any year (using indexes at Ancestry). Are there any Dury researchers on this list? I'm looking for suggestions of who Mrs. E Dury of Camden, Michigan, in 1923 might be. Frances Van Scoy francesvanscoy@aol.com

    3. Hi Katrina, I have one Starkweather in my files. Mary S. Starkweather b. 1827 in NY d. between 1860 and 1864 Mary was married to Joshua Caswell and they lived in Fremont, Steuben co., IN , not too far from Hillsdale. I don't know much about Mary, but she had one child named Elva A. Caswell b. in 1853. I notice your information shows both an Alva and a Mary Starkweather. Maybe theres some connection. 1. Can Anyone Help??
    2. Karl MacEachron
    3. Edward Gould was my great, great great grandfather and he lived in Somerset Township (approx 1835 to just before 1850 when he died). I am trying to find his date of death and where he was buried, if you can tell me where I can find that information or any other information about him, I would be very appreciative. The Hillsdale County webpage gives the name of John Lane as a source of information on cemeteries in Somerset Township but my letter, to John, came back as 'not deliverable as addressed'. I re-checked the address against the web page and found I used the right address. Is there anyone else who has knowledge of Somerset Township cemeteries? Thank you. Karl MacEachron Fresno CA

I've tried to find them in 1900 census and think they might be near the bottom of page 8B of ED 91. Peley ASH & Martin MILLER, close neighbors are also on that page. The bottom is very dark on the Ancestry images, so I can't read it. At some later time, the descendants moved on to Battle Creek. I'd be happy for any help. THanks. Ann annbrick@thewavz.com
