Due to the difference in age I assumed that Peleg was the father of Elizabeth. Also no connection has been found to our ancestor Susan Hopkins Bates. It was noted in the Place Names book, on page #234, in the White Cloud District Library where I am a volunteer, that P.C. Hopkins was the first Supervisor for Grant Township, Grand Traverse County, which was organized in 1866 and named for Ulysses S. Grant. In addition in the same book on page 272, Peleg Hopkins was named the first postmaster of Hopkinsville, Grand Traverse County on 9-11-1867. Do you know if any of the Hopkins have been certified as First Sett! lers? If so, please e-mail me who and when. Thanks..
