Sutton, 71, a resident for the past 29 years of Rapid City, passed away suddenly Thursday noon Oct 25. Mr. Sutton was born in Jordan Twp, Antrim County, 18 June 1885, the son of Henry and Edith Sutton. He was married 18 Nov 1910 to Bertha Lavanway, and to this union six children were born. Surviving: 4 daughters; Mrs Marian Mood of Minneapolis, MN; Mrs. Marie Bradley of Lowell; Mrs Clara Barnes of Kewadin; Mrs. Myrtle Yoder of Rapid City; one son Harry of Grand Rapids, one brother, Fred Suttons of Chestonia and three sisters Bertha Justice and Ethel Mills of Chestonia and Muriel Greenman of Bellaire. He was preceded in death by one daughter, three bros and three sisters. Funeral services was held at Berg Schwartz Funeral Home Sunday, Oct 28 at 2:00pm with Rev Edward Caughill of Rapid City officiating. Burial was in Mt. Sutton of Grand Rapids, passed away there very suddenly Sunday morning, Feb 8, from a heart attack. Mr. Sutton was 45yrs of age. Born 26 July 1913, at Chestonia and at the age of 14 he moved with his parents, Samuel and Bertha Sutton, to Rapid City where he attended school. On, 1 July 1940, he was united in marriage to Chloe Wilson of East Jordan. To this union six children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Sutton have made their home in Grand Rapids the past nine years where he was employed as a welder on the Chesepeake and Ohio Railroad. Survivors include: wife, Chole; five sons, Robert, Allan, Melvin, Dale and James and one daughter, Virginia. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Harry Peck of Rapid City, four sisters, Mrs Marion Moody of Minneapolis, MN Mrs. Clara Barnes, Kewadin, MI Mrs Myrtle Yoder and Mrs. Marie Bradley of Rapid City, MI, also numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. She was born 31 Aug 1894 in Echo Township to Elmer and Ida Minor Lavanway and she moved to Rapid City in 1926. She was married to Harry Peck at Cadillac on 12 Oct 1946. Surviving are husband, Harry, 4 daughters Mrs. Myrtle Yoder of Rapid City Mrs. Marion Yoder of Elk Rapids Mrs. Clara Barnes of Kewadin Mrs. Marie Lawson of Cass City. 2 sisters, Lucy Misner of Lake Odessa and Olive Phiffer of Dearborn 3 bros., Edward Lavanway, Eben Lavanway, Elgin Lavanway and Edwin all of East Jorden. 28 gr-grandchildren; 2 gr gr grandchildren; 6 step-children numerous step-grandchildren. Preceded in death: First Husband Samuel Sutton three children in infancy, Louella, Dorothy, and Stanley Sutton and one son Harry Sutton of Grand Rapids. Funeral Services were held on 5 June 1964 at the Rapid City Church of Christ with Paul Stacy of the Kalkaska Church of Christ officiating.
