I have recently added more Grand Traverse Herald news articles online to my website: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jayhomer/Records.htm The articles include all local news from January-June 1886, the local correspondence columns for 1889, and Long Lake twp correspondence columns for 1891-1892 and July 1899-1900. The 1886 and 1889 news includes items from Grand Traverse, Benzie, Leelanaw, Kalkaska, Antrim, and Wexford counties- with covergae heaviest for the first three. There is a search engine at the top of the page to help you locate names- I would suggest checking name variations since spelling was rather erratic. Homer Thiel Tucson, AZ
I am looking for my husbands family. They were from Norway originally. On his homestead records from Saskatchewan Canada he put that he came from Browns Valley, Minn. There should have been several children born there and was hoping someone could tell me how to find them. It would have been in the early 1900's. Any suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Regards Betty Searching JOINES, Ole T. and Ingaborg

Hi List Could you help me out. I am trying to find a Methodist Church in Whittmore that my gr grandfather was a lay minister at. I don't know the name of the church or where in Whittmore it is. I am also trying to find information on the Masonic lodge in Whittmore. My Gr grandfather Samuel Evans was a member of the lodge. I would like to find out if the church or lodge would have any information about him. I believe he was a minister sometime between 1905 to 1945. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Carolyn

I apologize if this is a duplicate message to any of you, I have sent it to several lists because the information I do have is so vague. I have a very interesting situation on my hands. I am trying to find information on my husband's grandmother. She was raised as Mary Rose Tomac. But it is believed that her birth parents were actually Aho. We are pretty sure she was born in Michigan. The birthdate she was always told was hers was May 18, 1914. Apparently she came in to some information when she was older that she could have possibly been born in 1912. She also believes she was born or raised early on in a lumberjack camp with her birth father. Mary Rose passed away in August of 1996. Let me clear up that she did not find out she was an Aho until she was much older & her parents were deceased, that's why the information is so vague. If anyone has any information on this I would appreciate your help.
I am trying to locate my Filkins line from Grand Traverse. I know for sure that Ashley Henry Filkins was born in Fife Lake in 1908. His father Silvanna (or Sylvinus) I only have listed as being born in Michigan. Any help would be appreciated. Lili (Baffrey) Felgar Searching for: Felgar, Felger, and Filkins
