I am researching the surnames of CLEES/CLEESE, UMLOR/OMLOR, WUNSCH(many variant spellings). Specifically trying to find information on the parents of Anton Wunsch and his wife Caroline Heer .... circa mid to late 1800's. Their daughter, Jennivior(many variant spellings including Jane), married Adam Umlor. Adam and Jane's daughter Anna married Michael Clees. Anna and Michael's son Earl was my father. Adam and Jane lived in Solon in Leelanau Co., but many of the Umlor/Wunsch relatives lived in Grand Traverse County. Any information would be appreciated. I realize you need the Liber number and page number to order these death certificates. There are ones listed without these numbers. Apparently this William never got married according to his DC (at least it said he was single, not a widower) so possibly that is why he isn't in the marriage list. I have not found any census on-line yet. I have a Bentley researcher working in Michigan on this. Maybe she can find the census for me. Thanks for checking the 1860 and 1870. He was naturalized in 1896 so he probably went down there just before that. I will have to check the 1900 - 1910 and 1920 census. Thanks for this. This is where we found the William J. Bentley died in 1925 who was born in Ontario Canada. Also this one's mother's maiden name was Grody, not Gorley as I first stated. There is also another William J. buried in Genesse Co that we have to check out. Hi Listers - I am new here and have just received information from a death certificate obtained recently that a William J. Bentley died on Feb 10, 1925, at age 59 years, 11 mos and 5 days in Traverse City, MI. It gives his birthplace as Canada, and his parents as William Bentley and Mary Jane Gorley of Ontario. Would any one on this list be connected to this family or know anything about this William? Our William J. Bentley born in Ontario was about four or five years younger than this one, and his parents were William Bentley (of England) and Mary (maiden name unknown) of German descent. We have obtained our William J's naturalization papers date 1896 in Emmet Co. Michigan, so we know he was down there at one time.
