Hi, Anyone for a challenge? My cuz and I are wanting to find our Great-grandfathers birth parents.... Birth Record: Genesee County Child name: John HORTON Location: Burton Date of Birth: Nov. 01, 1877 Mother: Mary Blip (I was told BLISS) Birthplace: Michigan Father: Not Given Birthplace: Not Given Both parents lived in Flint Adopted parents: Alexander CAMPBELL and Margaret WILKES Thank You! Deb Faith
I can't help you with the father's name, but a clue about the "Blip" versus "Bliss". Often in the old handwriting, two s's together, were written with a character that resembled an uncrossed "f" that extended below the line. This "f" might also have been read as a "p". It would be VERY easy to err in that way. Look for other names written by the same person to see if that's the way they wrote the double "S".
