I accidently hit send before I was finished...I also wanted to tell you that if you go to the Court House (it is the building which has the old cannons on the lawn.), on Friday, not only will the volunteers help you, but they will make copies of death certificates for you for only $2.00 each...if you go any other day during the week the regular employees charge $10.00 each. I've been wanting to go there for research on a Friday for months, but they have very limited handicapped parking, only 3 spaces at this time, and I have been unable to get my husband to take me on a Friday. (I am unable to walk very far.) Within the past couple of weeks I had to report there for jury duty...due to the continuing new construction, you must enter from the back of the building on Beach Street. (It is on the corners of Beach Street, Court Street, and Saginaw St.) The building is now called Genesee County Circuit Court. I noticed while I was waiting to be picked up that day, that the Vital Records department is on the second floor. I was hoping I would have to return on the next day for Jury Duty (which was a Friday), because then my husband would have to take me..., and I though perhaps I could go over to the Vital Records Dept. for a little while before calling him to pick me up....but unfortunately or luckily depending on your point of view about jury duty, didn't have to return for the second day.
