Pam -- Am wondering about your grandmother's name? You said her name was Brown- was her background Irish? I am trying to find info on my g-grandfather, James S. Brown. He died in Alcona County, MI about 1940. His father, also James Brown, was born in Ireland and immigrated to New York, to Canada where my g-grandfather was born. I also have an Austin in my ancestry - from Michigan - around the Jackson County area. Her name was Emily Austin. - She married a John Gordon (among others) and they had Emma Gordon who married my g-grandfather, James Deller. Is McCallum connected to the Hendries from Scotland? Jay, In 1994, Midland County Genealogy Society operated a project called "First Families of Midland County;" with a list of criteria for qualification (one being that one had to provide proof that their family was in Midland County prior to December 31, 1894). At that time I had thought that other counties had or would be performing have a similar project; are you saying that Genesee County did not do this? I have birth and death dates. He had a brother John McCALLUM. If anyone can help me locate cemeteries on these families and other information that would be greatly appreciated. Hi I know that one of my ancestors arrived in FLint (Genessee County) area in 1835. According to the records I have their daughter was the first "white" child to be born in that area.
