My James S. McCALLUM died in 1918. Still I wonder if there is any kind of tie. The St. Clair area is where my ancestors are from plus other areas. I have the surnames in Michigan as BROWN, HEATH, AUSTIN, McCALLUM, JONES, DIBBLE. Thanks for getting back with me. God Bless Pam
Pam, I have a James McCallum on my collateral line. The McCallum that I have is named in the 1880 Census, Berlin Twp, St. Clair Co, Michigan. He married Lorrinda [Mead] Hiller, daughter, Susan. There son Frank was 4 yrs of age in 1880 Census. James McCallum died1920. Hope this helps. Beverly M. Freund, Takoma Park, MD
I saw your post and thought I would see if you just might happen to have a James S. McCALLUM in your family. He married someone with the last name SHARP or SHARPE. I believe they were married in Michigan. I was told on a STB basis that the mother came over from Ireland from the Orange Section. So I am thinking that she must have come over from Ireland with her parents. Because James S. McCALLUM was born in Michigan. Can anyone shed some light on this one? God Bless Pam
I am searching for a Nathan Oliver SMITH and his parents with siblings who was born in Delaware, Delaware Cty. Ohio on 8 April 1882. I know alittle about him, that he married a Synthia M. Donalson born on 8 July 1882. They married 22 Aug ? in Delaware, Delaware Cty. Ohio. She gave birth to a son Nathan Ewing SMITH 26 Oct 1909. She also gave birth later to a Mariah O. SMITH on 31 May 1917 but she died that same day only living hours. Synthia also died 6 days later, probably due to birth complications. Nathan must have moved to either Michigan or Indiana because he married a Daisy Mae McCALLUM (maiden name BROWN). Daisy was born in Michigan but had move to Indiana at some point. I kinda think it was Indiana that Nathan moved to. Anyway Nathan and Daisy married and later divorced, although Daisy was against it. Nathan must have moved to Alabama because that is where he died on 8 May 1855 in Montgomery, Baldwin Cty. Alabama. Can anyone related to this Nathan Oliver SMITH? God Bless Pam

> http://www.rootsweb.com/~mifgs/cemindex/cemindex.html > > direct to the cemetery page. > > Jay > ****************************** Jay, For our obvious *Newbies*, I think it's appropriate to point those *Newbies* (researchers) to the *Home Page* of a resource ('http://www.rootsweb.com/~mifgs/' in this case) so the researcher will know what *all* is available at the site. Of course once they've gained knowledge with the site, they can then bookmark the sub-page of "http://www.rootsweb.com/~mifgs/cemindex/cemindex.html" for quick access to the Cemetery Records as you suggest. Barbara, Go to the Flint Genealogical Society at 'http://www.rootsweb.com/~mifgs/' and click on the CEMETERY INDEX. From the Index Page you can search for anyone you wish. The results will give you a reference number ('31 A' for example). Then return to the main page, and see which cemetery the reference number refers to. Good luck, Jim Simpson taybridge@aol.com
Jacquie, A search for *Ye* for Genesee County at the GENDIS Website gave me one result. This is probably your Rosa YEASTER, although Ann Arbor is NOT in Genesee County: YESTIN, ROSA Date of death: 14-Apr-1886 Ledger Page: 237 Record Number: 200 Place of death: ANN ARBOR County of Death: Genesee Sex: Female Race: WHITE Marital Status: Married Age: 31 years Cause of Death: DIED IN THE OPERATION OF REMOV Birthplace: GERMANY Occupation: HOUSEWIFE Father's Name: Last name not recorded, UNKNOWN Father's Residence: DEAD Mother's Name: Last name not recorded, UNKNOWN Mother's Residence: DEAD Date of record: 2-Jun-1887 I hope this helps !? Also, I can still do the Photos of the YEASTER Graveplot for you. Jim Simpson taybridge@aol.com
Thank you to all who responded to my query. Apparently Pine Run has not been well kept up because no records exist other than the headstone readings which appear in the Cemetery Book. When I entered Rosa Yestin in Gendis as someone suggested, I received the no matching records message. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I did find a Rosa Yestor (close to Yeaster in pronunciation) in the FGS Red Book listing. Barbara, I have found out that when using the Gendis the least amount of information I type in the better results I get. Because names are not always spelled correctly. By typing in the name Barnhart I found a daughter of Ardella and William but I did not find Ardella. You must use your imagination when searching GENDIS if you do not find who you are searching for. The names may have been misspelt and/or mis-transcribed. Try alternate spellings of a last name and see what results you get. Also, start your search with the *last name* only. If you get hundreds of results, then re-do your search and enter *first names* and variations, plus that last name. Below, I quote from the GENDIS *Search Tips*: "Any criteria entered into a name field will match any record that begins with those letters. For example, entering Ols in the Decedent's Last Name field will match Olson, Olsen, Olsson, etc. This is useful in that exact spellings cannot always be determined from the original, handwritten ledgers. This is also useful if you are unsure of the spelling of the name, or know only the first few letters." I am unable to find the information for my g-g-grandfather who died Feb 1894 in Alcona County, Michigan. His name is John Hendrie, but his gravestone lists him as John Henry. Any clues as to why he does not appear on the Gendis list?
