    3. I was wondering if anyone on this list has access to older Flint newspapers on microfiche. I am looking for a marriage license notice or wedding announcement for David & Alice Wiggins. They were married on March 11, 1922 in Flint. I would be willing to pay for copies and postage. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tonia Baird Interlochen, MI

    1. [MIGENESE] Peter WILSON, Flushing Michigan
    2. Bonnie Barnes
    3. G'day to all, I haven't been on this list for a long time, but just found out that my ggg gf had a brother (or possibly a half-brother) named Peter WILSON who spent several years in Flushing, Genesee County, MI. I found him on the 1870 Census with his wife Eliza and a son George and daughter Mary. I also found Peter and Eliza on the 1880 Census for Flushing, but with no children still living at home. I know there was another son named Henry who apparently moved to NY state or perhaps never moved with the family to Michigan. There was also another daughter named Sarah Wilson who married someone by the name of BUSSELL. Sarah BUSSELL and George WILSON were still living in Flushing in 1900/1901 and I believe Mary Wilson married a SMITH and also remained in Flushing although I didn't find Mary or Sarah on the 1880 Census. There is a Mary who is probably her, but the birth years didn't match with what I have so I'm not positive. I guess what I'm asking is if there is a way I can find out when Peter WILSON died and how I can find out what is on his death record. I'm 99% sure that I can tie Peter Wilson and my grandfather to a line of Quaker Wilson's, but without knowing the parents of Peter it is almost impossible to be sure. I'm hoping that Peter's death record may have recorded the names of his parents. I also believe I know who they are, but am looking for verification. My ggg-gf died in 1878 in Oakland County and his death record recorded his father's name and mother's first name. If Peter's death record shows names of parents.....we'll know if my theory is correct and the mystery will be solved. I only know that Peter WILSON was alive and living in Flushing in 1880 and by 1900 was deceased, but 3 of his children were living in Flushing. I am presuming he died in Flushing, but am not positive. If anyone can help me by checking cemetery books in the Flushing area or in any other way I would be very appreciative. By the way, Wilson could also be spelled WILLSON, however this family usually used the single 'L'. Many thanks, Bonnie Menzer Barnes Perth, Western Australia

    3. You can contact the Genesee County Clerk at 810-257-3225 for info on how to receive a copy of the death certificate. I got one for my grandmother - but filled out an "Application for Death Record" which I had found somewhere online. But, call that number and they can tell you what you need to do. Good luck!!! 3. Marilyn, There are some sites where you can post "unknowns". You could post them on a web site for "Perry" families and "Curtis" families. You can join the appropriate rootsweb mailing list for those surnames, and offer to share them there. You can also scan and enlarge them and then compare facial features and hair styles of "known" and "unknown" people. Did any of your Perry line go to Antrim or Charlevoix county in Michigan? You can do the census research to identify families. 3. FYI: This book is on ebay, seems quite rare. I am not affiliated with the seller, but you may can email them from the page to see if your family is in the book. If it wasn't so old I would not have sent this. Its a bit high for my pocket, but someone may be interested. I did a search for it and the cheapest I could find of this same book was 275.00-450.00, for a first edition, so it must be pretty rare. Especially with that many portraits of our ancestors throughout. The url is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1786628513 Jamie

    3. Janet, A database is similar to a recipe box, or a filing cabinet. It is simply a convenient, efficient means of storing information on the computer. Office 2000 for the PC has a database, but... When people talk of their "Database" they are generally talking about their genealogy program, which is database, surrounded by a program designed to efficiently connect and manage the pieces of information, saving you HOURS of work and much confusion. It's sort of like getting the secretary with the above-mentioned filing cabinet. You don't have to remember who Great Aunt Maude's seventh husband's second child was. You just click a couple of buttons and it takes you to the whole family, with all it's information and (if you've documented like a good little girl) all of the sources for all of that information. At the press of a button, a genealogy program will draw your family charts for you. It will print for you the entire 56 pages of information on Uncle Ted's 4 wives and 23 children (provided that you have enough paper in the printer). It will automatically make an index of EVERY single person in the database. Most people probably start out with a written or printed sheet of paper of their family tree, as told to them by a relative. Then, they start accumulating information until the paper is a hassle, then they graduate to a set of index cards, or a simple database. However, you can just imagine the difficulties arising when the database contains 500 or more people (a very small family tree). That database definitely needs a secretary. 2. Bonnie Burkhardt
    3. I have someone who died in Clio and mentioned in obituary as being interred in Newton Cemetery. Does anyone know where that is? I have the "Michigan Cemetery Source Book" and also checked online at the geonames site and cannot find a Newton Cemetery in Michigan or anywhere that this person may have been. It was mentioned in the obit that she spent all her life in Tuscola and Genesee Cos., but actually she was born in Ashtabula Co., OH and spent some time there also. Thanks for any help. 2. Dean and Pauline Sears
    3. My g-grand parents were married in New York State - probably Genesee or Wyoming County. The marriage took place in Batavia, NY on November 6, 1872. Does anyone know how I could go about obtaining a copy of the marriage certificate. His name is Dudley Marcus Oldswager (Oldschwager) and her is Anna Morford. He and Anna left NY in 1877 arriving in Flint, Michigan, where they spend the rest of their lives. My e-mail is dpsears@artelco.com. Thanks, Pauli from Arkansas
