Hello; Frank H. Corbin was named as the father on the birth cert, in 1880, Caledonia, MI. Jennie Bresset was the mother. I have tried to find a Frank H. Corbin in Michigan, but, have not had any luck. He probably was 16 - 18, so born about 1861-1864. Believe NY was listed as birth place. His occupation was listed as a groom. Not as wedding groom! Believe, horses groom. Anyway, this is a puzzle that I would really like to find some pieces for. Thank you for your response. I have a Corbin tie-in from Saginaw around the 1920s. Was wondering if you had tried to trace that lineage at all from the father? Go ahead and email me at skuehl34@aol.com.... Steve
My g grandmother, Jenny BRESSET, gave birth to a girl, Dec. 16, 1880 at the county poor house, in Shiawassee. She named the father as Frank CORBIN. Her address was listed as Genovese. Believe it may be a misspelling for Genesee. Named the child Edna Corbin. Edna was adopted by Pelig & Matilda Whited, and renamed Lola Whited. She had adoptive brother's named, Frank & Elmer Whited. Seeking information about Jenny & Frank. Also, have photo's of Whited, Baily, Smith, Thorne, Howe, Boyce & Feathers, that I would like to share. All Whited relatives, I believe. Ginny Desmond Nordin
THE BOYD DATA BASE This data base now includes 87,900 individuals with over 16,000 Boyds. That means there are almost 72,000 individuals OTHER than Boyd in the database. Locations listed are world wide. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=boyd-trees Stop by and take a look, you might find some of your family there. If you have a Boyd connection that you are researching, send me a GEDCOM file or Family Tree Maker file, and I'll include your information in the next update. johnhboyd@compuserve.com
Hi Rich, I agree with you the photos are great, one good warning, make sure they aren't left in the sunlight if hanging on the wall, someone told me they may fade. I have had some for about 4 years and no change in them but thought I would pass that on. I haven't forgotten the picture I promised you, just haven't found it yet. It is here somewhere. Eileen Brown

I used one of these machines at Rite Aid and was awe struck at how good the machine reproduced quality copies. Hard to tell the original from the copy. I used to copy old photos with my 35 mm Canon camera. I have a copy stand and special lenses. But I had problems with color. Now I usually take my old pictures to Rite-aid or Walmart and make them. Yesterday I had an 8x10 copy of a 3 1/2 x 5 regular photograph made for only $5.00. The copy was great. The only drawback with the machine is it doesn't give a negative as my camera did. Rich Boyd
Has anyone else discovered the Kodak Picture maker machines available for use at Walmart and Kmart, it is inexpensive with many options available,What I like about it is that I do not have to let these 100+ year old photo's out of my sight for copies to be made I hate leaving these things in the care someone who does not love them as I do, they are not replaceable once lost. you just take you pic in and the machine scans it and gives you options such as sepia tones of black and white, you can crop things(or people)out you can enlarge or shink images...this so great for genealogists what a great way to preserve these old pics without the expence- it only takes 5 minuets and the pics come out almost better then before. IF you have one near you go and try it. _____________________________________________________________ Open a Free Personalized Email account today at http://AFreeInternet.com. Annette and all, The genealogy society in Traverse City Michigan started a database many years ago that includes birth, marriage, and death (obit) info from local area papers, since the earliest newspapers. Fantastic genealogy research tool. It is on a computer at Northwestern Michigan College, and is searchable by surname, etc. It includes the name and date of the newspaper, and the location in the paper. They also have the newspapers on film at the college. No charge except for printed copies of the articles. Once the dates, names, and locations of family members are found, it makes it a lot easier to find records at the local courthouse. The same kind of database put on the web would be useful for a LOT more people! These can be invaluable for any death before 1885. This would be a great project for someone interested in doing these newspapers for the Otsego County GenWeb site. Mary and Ed Jackson have done 3 counties in NY State and put them in book form for sale and they are great resources.
