    1. [MIGENESE] FYI -Searching your female ancestors?
    2. HI Everyone, This is from Ancestry newsletter. It has some free databases and interesting sites, you may or may not know about for searching your female ancestors. Happy Hunting, Lesley ============================ >From "Daughters of America; or Women of the Century Chapter II: Women of the Revolution," page 47: "There is ample evidence of the sympathy which the women of those early days of our nation's history felt with the efforts of their countrymen to rid themselves of a foreign yoke. One woman, addressing a British officer in Boston, wrote from Philadelphia as follows: 'I have retrenched every superfluous expense in my table and family. Tea I have not drunk since last Christmas, nor bought a new cap or gown since your defeat at Lexington; and, what I never did before, have learned to knit, and am now making stockings of wool for my servants; and this way do I throw in my mite to the public good. I know this, that as free I can die but once; but as a slave I shall not be worthy of life. I have the pleasure to assure you that these are the sentiments of all my sister Americans. They have sacrificed assemblies, parties of pleasure, tea-drinking, and finery, to that great spirit of patriotism that actuates all degrees of people throughout this extensive continent.'" 3. Smith Bridgman was a very nice department store in downtown Flint. As a child, I always had my photo with Santa taken there. It closed in the late 1960s, or early 1970s, and no longer exists. In the 30s, 40s, & 50s, this store was the hallmark of downtown Flint. -----Original Message----- From: Patter1932@aol.com [mailto:Patter1932@aol.com] Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 12:37 PM To: MIGENESE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [MIGENESE] Re: MIGENESE-D Digest V02 #40 Hello Can anyone tell me if there is a photographic studio "WHEELAN STUDIO, SMITH BRIDGMAN & Co." in Flint ,MI., or there successor? 3. If you have the old address, check and see if the current occupants know what happened to the studio's records. Someone may have bought the business, and still run it at the same location, under a new name. Also check to see if someone bought the business and runs a studio in a new location. They may have the old records and negatives. If any of the studios listed in the phonebook advertise that they have been in business, for a lot of years, call them, and ask about the records you need. Ask if they know anyone who worked there, etc. Jay ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary" <marymary@ameritech.net> To: <MIGENESE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: 22 March, 2002 1:17 PM Subject: Re: [MIGENESE] Re: MIGENESE-D Digest V02 #40 > Hi, > Smith B's has been gone for many many years, and I checked the Flint phone > book and found no Wheelan under photography. > Good luck! > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <Patter1932@aol.com> > To: <MIGENESE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, March 22, 2002 12:37 PM > Subject: [MIGENESE] Re: MIGENESE-D Digest V02 #40 > > > > Hello > > Can anyone tell me if there is a photographic studio "WHEELAN STUDIO, > SMITH > > BRIDGMAN & Co." in Flint ,MI., or there successor? > > I have an old photograph with the numbers "2F 11530-8 15" on the bottom > of > > the photo and I think it is my uncle George Dewey Patterson who lived in > > Flint, MI. > > Thanks for any help. > > > > Bill Patterson > > patter1932@aol.com > > 301 Mallard Rd. > > Perrysburg, Ohio > > 43551 > > 419.874.6177 > > > >

    1. [MIGENESE] New to List - CLARK(E) NEWTON TANDY Families
    2. Pauline
    3. Dear List: I'm new to the Genesee County list, and am researching the siblings of my great grandfather CLARKE. So far, I have the following information on three of his siblings that moved from Dunwich Township, Elgin County, Ontario to Genesee County, Michigan. Annetta (Nettie) (CLARK) (1875-1954) married Earl TANDY (1874-1962) in March 1914. From Nettie's obit and the age she was married I'm assuming there were no children of this marriage.Nettie and Earl TANDY are buried at the Bristol Road Cemetery in Flint Township. Helena (CLARK) (1858-1946) married John NEWTON (1851-1903) in 1883 in Dunwich Twp. Elgin County, Ontario. From the 1910 Michigan Census, I have the following children: William b. 1883; Leo b. 1885, John b.1888; Roy or Ray b. 1889, and Mary E. b. 1890. Helena and John NEWTON are buried at the Glenwood Cemetery. According to the cemetery transcriptions on the same lot is Hazel no surname, and no date. Oran L. Clark (1871-1948) married Marybelle -?- about 1905. From obituaries and the 1910 Michigan Census I have the following children for this couple: Helen E. Clark b. 1906; Eva Clark b. 1907; Kenneth Clark b. 1908; Leon Clark b. 1909, and Annabelle Clark. From Oran's 1948 obituary his children are Annabelle (CLARK) FRY of Flint; Kenneth CLARK of Clio; Leon CLARK of Flint; and Eva (CLARK) SHANNON. Hoping that someone may be connected to the above families. Pauline Jones-Lyle Elgin County, Ontario

I can't remember which >>>>> ************************ Carroll, Posting #36 contained the query about BLISS or BLIP. I had deleted the posting, but perhaps someone else still has it in their inbox. Alternately, there should be an archive somewhere on RootsWeb that you could search. Jim Simpson taybridge@aol.com
