MacQueen born, May 8, 1897 at North River, Victoria County, (Cape Breton) Nova Scotia. It is said he moved to Detroit, MI and was an ore boat captain. It is unknown if he ever married. His brother Angus MacQueen, born Feb 7, 1900, died December 1974 in Alpena, MI. He may have been a captain or Great Lakes sailor also. Angus, (spouse unknown) had two sons, Raymond and Clarence. Clarence married Lenora Mercer, she died in July 1996. Murdoch and Angus' parents were Alexander MacQueen, born Oct 4, 1858, North Shore, Cape Breton, died 1921, and Christy MacDonald, born Dec 25, 1863, French River, Cape Breton, died Feb 20, 1911. Can anyone direct me to a site, or do lookups, where I might learn more about these men. I am assuming that these two men would have been licensed seaman, and some records should exist. For anyone doing research on ancestor's from Cape Breton, I have a data base of over 32,000 individual's, mostly emigrants from the Outer Isles of Scotland, Skye, Lewis and Harris, etc. I would be happy to share any information I have. Quite a few of these emigrants later moved (about 1850) to Bruce and Huron County, Ontario and then on to Michigan, Ohio, and Minnesota.
