Hi all I am new to the list and would like to find out some more information about the one ancestor of mine that emigrated to the USA from England. He was my g grandfather's brother. Name : Kirby BAILEY Born : 1865 in Brigstock, Northamptonshire, England 1881 Census England: Second Footman to Major General G.W.A. HIGGINSON, Hannover Square London 1885 : Arrived in the USA (based on 1900 US census - in US 15 years) 1890/1 : location unknown 1900 : Living in Marquette, Michigan, Married to Lizzie ? who was born in Ireland. He was transcribed as age 40. (ink blot on original however) 1905 : Acquires 160 acres of homestead 1907 or 1909 naturalised (date unclear) 1910 : Still in Marquette. Age 45. Wife Elizabeth. 1920 : Same address in Marquette (911 or 919? 4th Street)Age 45 (!!) I don't know what happened to him after 1920. From the censuses he doesn't appear to have any children. I haven't got access to the 1930 census. the other details came via a limited trial at a US library online. As his name is so unusual I wonder if anyone could please find out anymore. He is not connected to another Kirby BAILEY that I found existed in Mississippi. Apologies, but I have not had to research in the USA before, only the UK.
