    1. [MIGEN-L] Re: locating Mary Watrous
    2. Hello, I am at a dead end on trying to locate any information about a great-grandmother, Mary WATROUS. Can anyone give me any suggestions as to how to research her in the state of Michigan, when I don't even know what county to search or her parents names? This is all that I know: Mary Watrous married William Scott Rupp in Dec. 1861 in Muscatine, Iowa. (There are no other Watrous's in that Iowa county in the 1860 or 1870 census) Mary is listed in the 1870 and 1880 Iowa census as being born in the state of Michigan, her father born in N.Y., and her mother born in Ohio. Mary died on July 26, 1885 of consumption in Montgomery County, Iowa, and her gravestone says that she was born on Dec. 5, 1839. The closest that I have come to finding Mary Watrous in Michigan is the 1850 Calhoon County census. There is an 11 year old M. A. Watrous, father Randolph Watrous. However, upon more research, it seems that this M. A. Watrous is probably a Mercy Ann Watrous and not a Mary. I have not been able to find any other Mary Watrous who could have been born in Michigan about 1839, but of course it is difficult to check every county. Does anyone have any suggestions about locating Mary in Michigan. Thanks for any help. Nicky Eickerman
