    3. Hi everyone! I just returned from a visit with my step-mother in Las Vegas (we spent *way* too much money and didn't win a thing!). Anyway, I brought home my father's scrapbook, high school yearbooks, and his mother's photo albums...wonderful stuff in 'em all (oh...the yearbook signatures bring stuff to the imagination!)! And, so, I thought I would post and see if anyone knows anything of this info. My father was Marvin BENNETT (born MADER, but adopted by his step-father at about 11 years old), and graduated from Berkley High School (Oakland County) in 1956. He was on the football team all 4 years, first as 2nd string full-back, but his senior year he was the quarterback. Unfortunately, that year there were only a small handful of returning lettermen for the Varsity team, my father the only senior, and none with starting string-experience and they only scored in one game that whole season! He was in the Varsity Club, and on the wrestling team. It appears that his girlfriend through at least a couple years of school was a girl named Bev, though he met my mother, Maureen, a couple years out of high school in Southfield, where she lived, and married her in 1959. Two of his closer football buddies appear to be a Jim Harrington and a Bob Mooney. And, get this, he was voted in his class as the male with the 'best build'! I *love* that! Marvin attended Pattengill Elementary as I think these two men did too.. Also, I have found a bunch of ribbons from Camp Michawana for placement is contests at the camp. Mostly these were for different swimming events, but there were a few from tennis and track, too. The dates on the ribbons are from 1952, '53' and '54. Now, I looked the camp up and found their website and was surprised that it is/was such a religious camp, but I also do know that my grandmother was pretty strong in her faith... My dad was very helpful when it came to doing the genealogy (a fact which I must say, surprised me), but I never pestered him about his own childhood, like I should have...he passed away last November. I only returned home yesterday evening from my visit, and stayed up late last night (laughing and crying) reading everything in the yearbooks and such! Would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about any of the above info...or any sugestions for further research. All the Best to All, Alicia (Bennett) Jensen Soutehrn California
