    1. [MIGEN] Help desparetly needed Mt Pleasant St Clair County
    2. samshous
    3. Hi there. I am trying to find a burial for Peter John Foley who is reported to have died July 6, 1922 and his wife Mary Anne Moriarty who is reported to have died July 24, 1941 at Mount Pleasant Michigan. I would think that they were probably Catholic. Their family consisted of Stephen John Born about 1877-1922, Jeramiah born about 1879, Peter Leo born about 1882 - 1936 & married Mary Ellen Sawyer, David Timothy born about 1883, Mary Ann born about 1885 and married Patrick Coffee, Charles about 1888, James about 1889 Henry about 1890. Both parents and the children were born in Ontario Canada except for Charles James and Henry who were born in Mt Pleasant. I came across a land record for 1915 in Isabella Twp for Sect 29 (80) which I think means 80 acres. Any information or suggestions on this family would be appreciated. Thanks.

    2. Susan Kaufman
    3. Find those genealogical skeletons in your closet on a special research night at the Allen County Public Library Historical Genealogy Department in Fort Wayne, Indiana! As a special event to celebrate Family History Month, the Historical Genealogy Department will be open for research until midnight Friday, October 31st! To enjoy this opportunity you must be in the department [or at the doors of the department!] by 6pm. This is very important, as we can't admit anyone to the building after 6pm. The library is located at 200 E. Berry, Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is parking in front of the building or around the block. Additionally, there is a parking garage located on Clinton Street, directly across from the library. The parking garage is open all night--with parking from free for anyone in the garages who leaves after 10P! This is a very special event; your ancestors are lurking in the OPEN stacks of the department! If you haven't been to our new transition location (our old library is being expanded and renovated) this is a great opportunity to utilize one of the best genealogical research collections in the nation. You have access to all the books, periodicals and microfilms. Browse the stacks, place your hands on the book that is calling to you....open it up, and feel the presence of your ancestor. Spooky research finds are available here at ACPL! Light refreshments will be provided in the Board Room on the third floor atrium, just outside the department. A relaxation room (Room 317) will have videos from the PBS Ancestors Series playing. Please join us....see you at 6pm on the 31st at 200 E. Berry! Any questions, please call 260-421-1225. 3. Hi, I have an ancestor who died in 1976, and in her obit it states that she was interred in West Cemetery in Grass Lake. But, when I look at the transcriptions online, the burial dates are all prior to 1895. Is there a newer section of this cemetery listed online, or is this an entirely different cemetery? Thanks. ~Michelle

    1. [MIGEN] PEW family info needed
    2. Linda Dillon
    3. Hi, I am new to this list, I am currently researching my PEW relatives, who originally lived in Grand Rapids, eventually branching out (but most stayed in Kent cty). I would be happy to share my information with anyone interested. I believe that the earliest family member to live in G.R. was George H. PEW, b. 1826, Cheltenham, Gloucester parish, ENG, s/o George PEW & Mary ALDRIDGE/ The family immigrated from ENG to NYC on ship John and Margaret, arr 28 Aug 1832 with 3 children, youngest was a dgt Sarah Jane, b. at sea, who eventually marries Charles A. HOLADAY. Their father George PEW disappeared bef 1850 at which time I find Mary with 5 children living in Rochester, Monroe Cty, NY. George H. and family appear in G.R. CEN in 1860, 4th ward. He married Margaret Ann SCRIBNER 8 Dec 1853. George H. and his family are all buried in the Greenwood CEM in Kent cty.. The following info is all from the G.R. City Dir. and I am looking for any information about a company named PEW BROS & CO in Grand Rapids, Michigan (according to 1859-60 City Directory). The description of the company given was Planing, Floor Dressing Mill, and Wool Carders; it was also listed in business directory under Carpenters. Location given: east side river, Canal between Hastings and Trowbridge. Owners: John Pew, Jas. Pew, George H. Pew, and C. D. Blakeslee. My relatives were the PEWs: George Henry (married to Margaret Ann SCRIBNER), res. on Turner bet 1st and 2nd (west side); little info about rest, Dir. showed the following names, all boarding w.s. Ionia bet Lyons & Bronson): John PEW James PEW, Alfred PUGH, Jas. PUGH,and John PUGH. It is confusing, because I have found the name spelled either way (PE/PUGH) and I am not sure if the same person was just listed twice or these were different people. I did find a James A. PEW (PUGH on death cert) buried in the Fulton Street CEM next to his Mother (Mary) and her 2nd husband (Benjamin PAYLISS). I also found him in the 1870 census in G.R. (just before his death) listed as PUGH. I believe the owner of the house on Ionia was Albert COY (COYE) who married Mary PEW (dgt of Mary PEW and her first husband George PEW [who disappeared]). Albert was an Awning manufacturer (a company which still exists today and was family owned for a long time). The dir. showed an Alfred COYE working for PEW BROS but gave no address. I believe he may have been the brother of Albert. The most confusing part of all this is that there was also a Jas. A. PUGH, finisher at C. C. COMSTOCK - the Fulton St. Cem. lists Jame A. PEW but the death cert. showed him as James A. PUGH, but gave parents as Mary and George. Therefore, I am not sure which (city dir. result) is mine. Information about any of these people or companys would be HUGELY helpful. I have also posted this message on the Kent cty list. Thanks so much.
