I have found that Grand Traverse County has marriage & death records available online. Do you know if any other counties in Michigan do the same? (Or in any state for tat matter.) Thank you so much. Hello, I am sorry to keep bothering all of you! I think I'm on an impossible search! I'm wondering if anyone has access to Michigan's 1920 census. 1910 might help. I am trying to locate information on my husband's grandmother. She was Mary Rose Tomac, born May 18, 1914. She was possibly adopted & born in Michigan. It is believed that she was born an Aho & adopted by the Tomac's. Unfortuneately I have no names for either side. I'm hoping to locate her or any of her family on these census'. Thank you so much for your time. Lili (Baffrey) Felgar Searching for: Felgar, Felger, Tomac, Aho and Filkins Also: Morrell and Baffrey

Does anyone have access to the Michigan 1910 & 1920 census'? I am trying to locate Mary Rose Tomac. I have posted about her before. She was raised a Tomac but believed to be an Aho. It is also believed that she was born in 1914. I am hoping that if I can find an Aho or Tomac family at those times I may be able to get somewhere. Thank you for your help.
Ancestry.com is offering free access to their stuff today thru July 31!
Help, please! I recently put in a request for a birth certificate with the Michigan Vital Records Dept. I stepped out for a minute today & missed an important phone call from them. Of course for some reason the message kept cutting in & out. I made out most of what they were saying but when they left the phone number, the last 2 digits were cut off! I'm hoping someone can help me fill in the blanks. I've looked all over & can't find a phone number to match. Here's what I have (517) 335-90_ _. The lady I am trying to reach is Aiva (sp). Thank you!
I am looking for information on the ancestors of Charles E. Budden who served with the 1st Michigan Sharpshooters during the Civil War. Charles was born in Boston, MA on January 4, 1848 but enlisted from Detroit, MI in 1864. Charles ended up in Duluth, MN where he married Magdalena Elizabeth Pastoret and had seven children. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
I apologize if this is a duplicate message to any of you, I have sent it to several lists because the information I do have is so vague. I have a very interesting situation on my hands. I am trying to find information on my husband's grandmother. She was raised as Mary Rose Tomac. But it is believed that her birth parents were actually Aho. We are pretty sure she was born in Michigan. The birthdate she was always told was hers was May 18, 1914. Apparently she came in to some information when she was older that she could have possibly been born in 1912. She also believes she was born or raised early on in a lumberjack camp with her birth father. Mary Rose passed away in August of 1996. Let me clear up that she did not find out she was an Aho until she was much older & her parents were deceased, that's why the information is so vague. If anyone has any information on this I would appreciate your help.
Hello everyone. I am new to the list. Could some kind person in the Detroit area do a look up for me? My library has the census films, but NOT the indexes or soundex. I need a look up for a George NEWELL in 1880, 1900, and 1910. He would have a wife Cecelia and at least two children William and Albert, but there may be more I don't know about. I also need a look up for a John STOECKLIN in 1880, 1900 and 1910. He had a wife Anna, and 8 daughters. I only have dates on two of them, Amelia 1885 and Eva 1881 or 3. The rest are either older or younger. And if anyone has a cemetery inscription book for Detroit that includes Woodmere, could you look for these people in there? I know this is a big request, but being way down in Florida I can't get there to do it myself. (Maybe next summer, I'll drive up from Sandusky one day and do some for myself.) Susan in Florida

Hi! am researching HONEYBALL's, and have photo of great Uncle in some sort of uniform, and on back of this photo it states, "Sharpshooters drill 1912, Ludington". Could someone tell me where I might be able to get more info on this group? As far as I know, great Uncle did not live in Ludington, but the Detroit area or Perhaps Gladwin County. does this photo mean he was actually enlisted in some branch of the military? Any suggestions appreciated! Sally
Hello, I am at a dead end on trying to locate any information about a great-grandmother, Mary WATROUS. Can anyone give me any suggestions as to how to research her in the state of Michigan, when I don't even know what county to search or her parents names? This is all that I know: Mary Watrous married William Scott Rupp in Dec. 1861 in Muscatine, Iowa. (There are no other Watrous's in that Iowa county in the 1860 or 1870 census) Mary is listed in the 1870 and 1880 Iowa census as being born in the state of Michigan, her father born in N.Y., and her mother born in Ohio. Mary died on July 26, 1885 of consumption in Montgomery County, Iowa, and her gravestone says that she was born on Dec. 5, 1839. The closest that I have come to finding Mary Watrous in Michigan is the 1850 Calhoon County census. There is an 11 year old M. A. Watrous, father Randolph Watrous. However, upon more research, it seems that this M. A. Watrous is probably a Mercy Ann Watrous and not a Mary. I have not been able to find any other Mary Watrous who could have been born in Michigan about 1839, but of course it is difficult to check every county. Does anyone have any suggestions about locating Mary in Michigan. Thanks for any help. Nicky Eickerman

Hi All List Members: On Sunday May 28th,2000 I am having a lunceon for all BUTTERFIELD Descendents who live in the Michigan Area. Requirements are you birng your research notes and family tree listing your BUTTERFIELDS. As I am a Descendent of Iran Daniel BUTTERFIELD of Lapeer County I would like to meet cousins and any descendents that live here in Michigan. As I am going to be shopping on Saturday I will need an answer on who is coming. so that I will have enough food on hand.Directions for getting here are as follows: I-94 East to Exit 262 WADHAMS RD. in St. Clair. Exit off and go over the freeway and at the bottom of the hill and past the on ramps for west bound you will see a sign that says THOUSAND TRAILS CAMPGROUND. Turn right into the campground and stop at the Ranger Station and tell them you are here to see Jean and Joe Payton in space C10. After getting through the gate keep going into the campground and pass Section A and continue on into Section C. A Putt-putt Golf are is on the right. You then will come to a fork in the road and keep to the left. The first road on the left turn left. You will see a green and white Motorhome. That is us. If coming from I-69 go east on I-69 and get off at Exit 196 Wadhams Rd. and turn right and go south seven miles and turn left into the campground. You will see sign. A shot in the dark here: Looking for an Alva E. CHESEBRO , born Nov. 1852 in Michigan. In 1900 he is listed as a widower. In his household was a housekeeper, Bessie SHROEDER, born in July 1879. He was living in the Town of Sullivan, Madison County, NY. In 1905, this same Alva E. CHESEBRO was age 53, still located in the town of Sullivan, Madison County. THIS TIME THOUGH, he is married to his housekeeper, Bessie J. SHROEDER. They have a child together by the name of OLIVE B. CHESEBRO. Olive B. Chesebro was born abt. 1903. I believe that Alva had a sister, Josephine, who was born in Ohio. I also believe that soon after his birth, his mother brought him back to Madison County, NY (her hometown). Who was the father? Where in Michigan and Ohio was he? Any help at all on this line would be greatly appreciated. This one is my BIG TALL BRICK WALL!!!!!! Jo Dee Frasco [email protected]
