    3. I fail to see how using your credit card on the internet is less secure than using it in the shop down the road. I only use my card on sites that are secure - you get a warning before the page loads and there is a padlock on the bottom of the internet explorer bar. These sites use encryption and it is near impossible for 'hackers' to get into. I wont go into detail about the whole thing because this is a genealogy list not a tech list but IF someone 'hacked' in to part of a message that you sent that included your credit card number they would not be able to read the message without the key, the keys are changed with every response. Having said all that, there is always the threat of human intervention, as there is in your local department store. I would never fax my card details (sorry Mike) because there is always the risk of human error - accidentally sending it to the wrong number, your fax sitting in the 'inbox' with however many staff members walking around it. Use your credit card on the internet like you would out in the world, you wouldnt give your credit card to just anyone. Check out the sites you want to use it on. The argument that in a few years down the track the company on the internet that you gave your number to used it to take your money could be used about your local book store.
