Most of my family are from the northwest of England with some in Scotland and Ireland. I moved to Toronto Canada in 1963 with my wife Eileen and two children. Presently I am researching my great great grandparents. John and Emma ATKIN. John ATKIN a Journeyman Goldbeater by trade. Born 1841 Salford, Lancashire, England. During the 1891 census John resided at #24 Glasgow Road, Rutherglen, (Tenement flat #11 of 11) Glasgow Scotland. At the time of his death at age 57, in April of 1899, John's address was listed as 11 Allen street, Bridgestone, in the Borough of Glasgow Scotland. Emma (Nee JONES) ATKIN born 1842 Salford, Lancashire, England. Died in 23 Regent street, Rutherglen, Scotland, the 13th of Dec 1906. I gather this is about 5 miles south of Glasgow. My Atkin family appeared in Scotland on three occasions. The 1891 Glasgow census lists the family as resided at #24 Glasgow Road, Rutherglen (Tenement flat #11 of 11) Glasgow Scotland. The children were. Thomas b1862 England Matilda b1867 Salford Lancashire Sarah b1871 Cannongate Edinburgh. Annie b1873 Glasgow Jane b1875 Salford Lancashire Albert b1882 England Florrie b1886 England Matilda ATKIN married in Manchester John William SPENCER (my great grandparents) in August 1889. They resided in Manchester during the 1891 census. Then moved to the Glasgow area. Possibly to be closer to mum and dad :)) They lived at the following addresses. 61 Cathcart Rd. Rutherglen near Glasgow Scotland in 1893 at the time of a daughters birth. 36 Scott St. Glasgow, District of Bridgeton Scotland at the time of another daughters birth in 1895. Hopefully there is a list member researching these same families. Or might come across them in the 1901 census. All my best wishes in your own search.
