Hi George, Have you considered the Robert Crook (in IGI)born 1805 to George Crook and Isabel Calder in Newbattle, Midlothian, as Robert's parents? It is not uncommon for records to omit or add the "s", as I have found in my own research. This couple had 3 other children all born Newbattle John Crook b. 1803 James Crook b. 1808 Jean Crooks b 1812 (note- includes the "s") Newbattle is only 40 miles from Lilliesleaf, so it is not impossible that Robert was working there and met Jean. Only a possibility, but perhaps worth pursuing, if these names carried on into Robert/Jean's family. Regards Margaret
