    3. Hi Liz What is your connection to William Laing? I am researching David Laing born 1857 I believe your William, George and Elizabeth's brother the dates match my David's Parents were David Laing and Elizabeth Stevenson do we have a match? I just downloaded, from Scotlandspeople, a birth record for William Laing, 09 May 1848. I started searching for the eldest son in this family, and I did indeed find him. I also found his brother George, 19Feb1851 and sister Elizabeth, 09May1854, all were recorded at the same time. The rest of the page had several families with 2, 3, 5 and 6 children registered at the same time. Birth years ranged from 1844 - 1854. The longest period I have found between birth and registration has been 15 years, but that was only one child in the family. This last one was worth 5 credits! Liz Dempster Ontario Canada

    3. Hi: You know when I put the names in something in the back of my mind said that it wasn't necessary, and I almost took that out. Then something made me continue. I definitely think we have a match. William Laing (son of David and Elizabeth) and Mary Manson are the parents of Robert Laing, who married my great aunt Cecilia Dempster Aitken in 1921, Portobello Scotland. Robert would be her second husband. Their child(ren), and I think I have found one, would be my father's first cousin(s). I never really knew Cecilia existed until I started this, my dad and all his family are gone now, I have no one to ask. My dad never spoke of family in Scotland and my grandmother only spoke of one Dempster in Scotland and one here in Canada. I was hoping that the one son to Cecilia and Robert, and I am positive it would be correct, Lauchlan John Laing, (all my grandfathers were named Lauchlan John Dempster) would still be alive. His birth date was one year after my dad, and unfortunately I found a death record dated one year after my dad. So no luck there but....there could be second cousins floating around. I have only just started on William and Mary, have birth records eight children, David is the second eldest. What would your connection be?
