The local Record Office usually has local residents on staff. Tell me the parish name and I can probably provide the postal address of the registrar, you could write and ask for guidance. Re your letter: * Keep it to a single page if possible! * Say something like, I shall be happy to pay your costs for any postage and photocopying, as appropriate.
