Greetings to you all Although I have been researching my ancestors for a number of years, I have only recently subscribed to the Midlothian list. I am researching the following family in particular: Flint I have traced this particular family branch back to William Flint, stonemason, married in Closeburn, Dumfries (1780) and buried there (1832) age 84. (D.O.B. abt. 1748 – but where?) This is one of my brickwalls. Flint is not a common name in the Dumfries and Galloway area, earlier and most contemporary Flints seem to be based further north in the Lothians and Lanarkshire, so if anyone else on the Midlothian list is researching Flints I would be interested in sharing information. As William Flint was a stone mason I was wondering if his occupation might be a way through this brickwall (did I just write that!) Best wishes Pat Stanistreet Liverpool Also researching: FLINT - Dumfries, Kirkpatrick Durham; KIRKPATRICK – Cample/Closeburn; PORTEOUS – Ruthwell; BLACK – Tinwald/Durisdeer; DALZELL/DALZIEL – Tinwald; KERR – Dumfries, Old Cumnock; COPLAND/COUPLAND – Dumfries
