    3. Haddington is in the County of East Lothian not Midlothian. It is a little like looking in Adelaide for someone who loved in Brisbane. As you give no Christian names or dates I would suggest the following sites: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/ This site allows you to search a specific parish (e.g., Haddington) for the Birth/Christening ("C") or the Marriage ("M") of someone with a specific surname. Searches are carried out with year ranges according to the Batch Number. For example the is an Isabella MacAdam married in Haddington in the period from 1820-1865. The record will give the Spouse's name and the date of the wedding. Follow the URL above. Click on Scotland and on the next screen select, East Lothian. On the next screen Select "H" or scroll down until you find Haddington. You will find a series of Batch Numbers for Christenings and Marriages. Each batch corresponds to a year range. Select the one you want and one the next screen type in the name MacAdam and start your search. This site has undergone sone changes lately and I find that it sometimes returns all the persons with the search name in Scotland on the first try. Go back to the Batch Number page and try again. http://www.familysearch.org/ This site covers the same material as the one above but is organized differently. It is searchable in a number of ways and it is possible to leave sections blank. Go to the URL and select SEARCH. On the next screen select INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX. On the next screen enter your information a start a search. In tracing ancestors in Scotland keep in mind that names often followed a naming pattern. That might allow you to trace back further. You can also ask on the East Lothian site for a Census look-ups as well for the period from 1851 - 1881. Hope this helps you get started.
