    3. Hello, Please can anyone tell me about a Peel House / Peet House /Past House in Linlithgow ? I cannot make it out on a death certificate for 1912. Any advise appreciated Merrylee

    3. Good morning Merrylee. The Peel is the area of parkland surrounding Linlithgow Palace. Peel originally fro the French word for palisade, an outer fence made of sticks. The Peelie was a special constable who patrolled the Peel. I assume that his house was Peel house ie the park-keepers house on the grounds of the Peel but this is only supposition.     3. Hi Terry! Thank you for the information on Peel House. The only thing that I know about it is that he died in Peel house but his usual address was Whitburn so I assumed it was some kind of Hospital or nursing home or old Folks home? Many Thanks Merrylee.
