    1. [MIDLOTHIAN] "Inch Gate" in Liberton? GRAY family
    2. I have from ScotlandsPeople, the Old Parish Register record (693/0080 0379) of my gg Grandfather, John GRAY's 1828 marriage in the Parish of Liberton to Pringle SANDERSON, which states (as far as I can read the script) - "That John Gray Labourer Inch Gate and Pringle Sanderson residing at Bridgend, both of this Parish..." Has anyone any idea what or where Inch Gate was? (And where would Bridgend be?) With John and GRAY being rather common names in this area, John is my brick wall, and I have not found any clue to his parents as yet. John and Pringle had 9 children that I can find (dates either birth or Christening)- Margaret GRAY 21/6/1829 Janet Urr GRAY 6/3/1831 Catherine Sanderson GRAY 28/7/1833 Isabella GRAY 19/7/1835 Adam GRAY (my great-grandfather, a plumber in Edinburgh) 25/2/1838 Pringle GRAY 28/6/1840 Thomas GRAY 28/2/1843 William GRAY 7/9/1845 John Henry Nibb(s?) GRAY 16/4/1848 I'd love to hear from anyone with connections to this family. Cheers Alan Hattle

    1. [MIDLOTHIAN] Pringle as forename
    2. Jean Campbell
    3. Does anyone know the origin of the forename, Pringle for a female? I thought it was a surname further back in my family, but in quite a few emails lately, it seems to be a first name in other families too. Just wondering. Jean
