Hi Pam, In 1841 Census , for Edinburgh, St Cuthberts, another female appears with the family, presumably another daughter; Amelia Downie age 9 born Edinburgh St Cuthberts In 1851 Census for Edinburgh Tron Church;Address -Websters Land, Blackfriars Wynd Margaret Downie appears, born 1805 Glenisla (occupation-washes for families) With her Stewart Downie b.1839 Edinburgh Emily(probably Amelia from 1841) b.1832 Edinburgh(Dom. Servant) Daniel Downey b.1842 Edinburgh >From this it would appear that David died around 1841/2 None of the other daughters still at home, perhaps married or in service elsewhere? .Hope that this is of interest.
