Hi Eleanor, I see a George SKINNER aged 8 in a poorhouse in Falkirk. in 1871. The record (and I am only looking at the index on Ancestry.com) says he was born in Dalkeith, Perthshire. Is this a possibility? Was his brother alive at that time? Have you found either of his parents? .Have you found him in 1891?
