Hello listers, My family research surnames are CHRISTIE and DICK. William CHRISTIE married Ann DICK at Colinton - proclaimed 13 May 1768. There is a Blotter entry at St. Cuthbert's, Edinburgh on 21 January 1771 - this was the date that their second child, Janet, was baptised. I am trying to find the baptisms of William and Ann and also their parents. William CHRISTIE was a mason in Edinburgh. Their children were: William 1769, Janet 1771, Anne 1772, John 1774, Walter 1777, Janet 1779, James 1781. These children were all baptised St. Cuthberts but I wondered if there was any mention of these children in the Colinton OPRs and whether there were other CHRISTIE and DICK famillies. The first four children were born Broughton, Walter was born Lauriston and the last two Bristro Street, Edinburgh and Potterow, Edinburgh. Witnesses to the baptisms of the children were: Walter CHRISTIE, mason, Kirkbraehead Archibald DICK, groom to the Earl of Leven James GRAY, Fountainbridge Walter CHRISTIE, mason, Cannonbridge (probably the same as above) William PORTEOUS, Portsburgh Robert GARLAND, gardener, Broughton Robert GRILLOW, gardener, Broughton Archibald DICK, farmer, Broughton William FORREST, gardener, Lauriston Peter CHRISTIE, merchan?, Portsburgh James HOG, student of divinity in the university Archibald DICK, gardener on Leith Walk James CHRISTIE, mason New Town. Archibald DICK was godfather a few times so it is possible that he is the brother of Ann DICK Walter CHRISTIE was godfather a couple of times and there is a Peter CHRISTIE so they may be brothers of William CHRISTIE. Does someone have access to the OPRs of Colinton and who could help me, please? Many thanks, Carole, Kent, UK -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
