Hi, I'm wondering if anyone on the list is researching KIRKWOOD. I'm trying to tie up a loose end with regard the parentage of a Margaret KIRKWOOD born circa 1806. When she married John Hutton in 1837 (Canongate, Edin.) her father is recorded as the late Robert, flesher of Fisherrow, but I can find no reference to her mother. She may be the latter Margaret of the following family that I've found through IGI, but I need to confirm that this Robert was a flesher: Robert KIRKWOOD and Margaret m.s.TORRENCE: children: Margaret (12.4.1797 Liberton); James (31.7.1797 Liberton); Agnes (30.6.1805 Inveresk); Margaret Stewart (8.11.1807 Inveresk). However, on some census returns it states that Margaret was born Lasswade / Loanhead. There is a possibility therefore that she may be the daughter of Robert KIRKWOOD and Ann ROBERTSON and born 1801, although this seems a bit early according to her census ages. This family appears to have been: Robert KIRKWOOD and Ann ROBERTSON: children: Catherine (14.3.1795 Inveresk); Margaret Andrew (6.9.1801 Lasswade); Thomas (1.5.1803 Lasswade); Archibald (8.12.1807 Inveresk); Marion (29.10.1809 Inveresk); Anne (15.12.1812 Inveresk).
