Please, can anyone help me resolve my problem? I have a quandary with an ancestral marriage for a Donald CAMPBELL who married Ann CHISHOLM in Scotland. IGI has an ALEXANDER WILLIAM CAMPBELL born on 6 Mar 1859 in Urray, Ross & Cromarty,Scotland, whose parents are recorded as Donald Campbell & Ann Chisholm. OUR earliest proven Campbell ancestor, Alexander William Campbell, married an Elizabeth Spears in Birkenhead, Westmorland, England, in 1883, he was born in Scotland per 2 Censuses. This is bonafide & proven information that HE IS ours. They had the following 3 sons all born in Westmorland: (1) William "Chisholm" Campbell 1884 (2) Alexander Bruce Campbell 1886 (3) Ernest Donald Campbell 1888 [our Grandfather]. All of Ernie's subsequent generation males have "Chisholm" as a middle name, even today! But the family has lost the knowledge of from where it comes. I'm trying to prove that the Donald Campbell + Ann Chisholm marriage is indeed OUR Alexander William Campbell's parentage! IGI has 2 records of a marriage for Donald Campbell + Ann Chisholm: 1. DONALD CAMPBELL - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Marriage: 03 DEC 1841 South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland 2. DONALD CAMPBELL - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Marriage: 29 NOV 1841 Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland QUESTION: could these 2 IGI marriages be the same couple? Is the church, Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, in the South Leith Midlothian district? Can anyone help me; or, advise me?
