Freecen is a volunteer project which is in its early days and is repeating work already done by the GROS who have put the full index on their site for 1881 and 1891 ..and will be putting the earlier ones on sometime in 2005 (despite ambitions to do so early this year) So we would persevere with scotlandspeople and try as many variations as you can come up with. Working back in time step by step is essential to be sure the family is the same ..... We went off on a wrong trail for generations because we were not rigorous enough about which John B we were looking at .. Then a chance review 10 years later when the census index came available online showed us our mistake ..which we could have avoided in the first place. So try again in 1891 .. Not sure you said where this family is .. Have you tried the Valuation rolls or local trade street directory ... We found a missing 1901 HIRD family in Dundee thanks to help from the Dundee City Library Local Studies Staff and I suspect there are similar great folk in Edinburgh Dalkeith or wherever your family should be Robin -- Robin and Margaret McEwen-King Lanark Scotland
