    3. Lisa, You were asking about the fact that 2 marriages appear on the IGI, to a couple with the same names - "could these 2 IGI marriages be the same couple? Is the church, Saint Cuthberts, Edinburgh, in the South Leith Midlothian district?" St Cuthberts and South Leith border each other as the old Parish map at http://www.forrestdale.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Parishes.html shows. The only way to be sure that these aren't two different couples is to obtain the actual Parish register entries, but there are cases of a couple having the marriage proclamation made in one Parish, and contracted in another, usually in cases where those involved were living in separate Parishes. I have one example, for instance, where Benjamin THOMSON and Janet CHURNSIDE entered their names for proclamation to be married at Dalkeith (the Parish of the bride) 10th June 1826, but then registered the reading of the Banns in order to marriage - at the Parish Church of St Cuthberts, on 19th June 1826, as this was the 'home' Parish for Benjamin.
