The mention of Uphall has made me post my interests. My mother Mary Veronica O'RORKE was born on the 28th November 1914 at 5 Houston Place Uphall Station. Her parents were James O'RORKE shaleminer and Sarah Jane MOLLOY school teacher who were married at Kirknewton on November 25 1909. Sarah Jane was living at 96 Pumpherston Mid Calder and James was living at East Calder Kirknewton on their marriage certificate. Sarah Jane's parents were Sarah THOMAS and Robert MOLLOY and they were married in 1877 in Magherlain Ireland James's parents were James O'RORKE born Ireland and Mary EARLY/AIRLIE born Ireland. They were married in Edinburgh on the 11th May 1865 James O'RORKE was living at 122 Kingscause Rows Linlithgow at the 1891 census. He died 9th December 1891 aged 41 as a result of an accident at Linlithgow Pits works. Where and when died is Champfleurie Linlithogw.. 1901 Census Mary EARLY/ORORKE was living at 80 Main Street East Calder with her son James O'RORKE Mary EARLY died 2nd December 1912 aged 59 from a stroke at East Calder Kirknewton On the 1901 census Robert MOLLOY and Sarah THOMAS were living at 96 Pumpherston Mid Calder Robert MOLLOY died 1917 and Sarah THOMAS died 1914 and both died at 96 Pumpherston.
