Dear Marion, It is quite possible it could be McNicol. McNicol is what I found on the transcription of the ship's list that I found their name on. I have seen so many variations of this simple name -- it's hard to believe. I'm still "digging" and hoping that eventually I'll figure out where they came from in Scotland. It's said to be Dundee but so far I have not found any proof and I've looked through an awful lot of church records.
