    3. Gretchen, Always find these type of questions interesting and deserve a quick look. I did not repeat any of your previous lookup but did do a check of the Scotlands people FREE SEARCH (I have no credits remaining in my account) and entered Baptie 1883---1883 and it came up with: OPR Birth & Christenings (1883 - 1854) 0 SRI Births (1883 - 1883) 9 OPR Marriages (1883 - 1854) 0 SRI Marriages (1883 - 1883) 4 SRI Deaths (1883 - 1883) 3 Since your people would have to be registered with the GRO one of the above must be yours and the six pounds would be well spent. Did a cross check for your Baptie/Cowan names in the BIVRI2 and no luck but you know this from your checks. The Baptie here are all widows and no George in Dalkeith area . The census did not give up a George in the Dalkeith area but did have an Isabella Cowan 18 years old in 1881, could be a very likely candidate. Best I could do without looking at the 1883 index films for a reference number. Best of luck Bob Cdn. ========================================== Dwelling: Lothian Rd Berries Court Census Place: Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland Source: FHL Film 0223987 GRO Ref Volume 683 EnumDist 2 Page 4 Marr Age Sex Birthplace Thomas COWAN M 41 M Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Head Occ: Van Driver Catherine COWAN M 41 F Newbattle, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Wife George COWAN U 16 M Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Son Occ: Blacksmith Isabella COWAN U 18 F Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Daur Mary COWAN 10 F Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Daur Occ: Scholar Jane COWAN 9 F Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Daur Occ: Scholar John MC RASTIE U 18 M Leadburn, Edinburgh, Scotland Rel: Boarder Occ: Cabinet Maker Richard DICKSON U 30 M Dalkeith, Edinburgh, Scotland =========================================================== -----Original Message----- <SNIP> Subject: [MLN] Baptie/Cowan Hi Listers,
