    3. Hi Penny, I've had my sister and her family visiting from England over the holidays so have neglected my inbox. I haven't got a David Nicol - yet - my gr gr gr grandmother Margaret Nicol was born in Abercorn in 1816, this is according to the 1881 census as I can't find a birth/christening record for her. From her death certificate I found that her parents were James Nicol and Janet Louden and I've found christenings for a brother Alexander (1804) and a sister Marion (1817) in Ecclesmachen which is just beside Abercorn. Margaret Nicol married Robert Orr in 1836 at Crammond or Ratho and they lived at Corstorphine. I don't know of any Nicols that went to Ontario, there are a few Nicols buried at the churchyard at Abercorn but I haven't connected any of them up so far to mine.
